I have 2 computers computer (a) and coputer (b). Both computers running xp. Computer (A) has 2 network cards in it. Computer (B) has 1 network card in it. I have fiberoptic internet. I also have 2 lynksys 4 port routers, patch cables, and crossover cables to use if needed. I want the internet signal to come directly into computer (A) through network card 1 and I want it to be shared with computer (B) through netowork card 2 in computer (A). I want it like this because computer (a) is a server and the routers mess up what I do with it. And my little brother uses computer (B). And he is not very internet savy and he has filled up computer (B) in the past with spyware. So I want to filter all content going to it through computer (A). How do I do this? I have tried conecting computer (A) to computer (B) with patch cables and crossover cables but the lights on the network card do not come one. But If I stick a router in between the 2, It works. But then I can't get ICS to work. Wada I do???

when I conect the 2 computers with a cross over cable or a patch cable, the lights on the netcards do not light up and I get the message "a network cable is unpluged". What do I do about this? I know that the netcards do work because I can set up a regular home network w/intenet and it works and the lights on the card light up. And I know that the cables are all good too. I have tested them with my V.O.M., volt ohm meter.

If you are using a Fiber Optic Modem and not a Fiber Optic I/O card installed in computer A then this should not be so hard. In Computer A you need to bridge the two network connections together. Do this by right clicking on a network connection and select bridge. Then you should be able to use ICS.

connect the two comps w/ a crossover cable. go into the internet connection properies and set it to share the connection. set the comps second network cards(one connected to the other comp) ip to xxx.xxx.xxx.1. make sure the the first comp is set to share all the appropriate web services (eg http, fttp, etc). manually do the ip configuration on comp b. set its defaault gateway to comp a's ip that u just set. set up a home or home office network using winxps network setup wizard. restart both comps and it should work, if not ruyn new connection wizard on comp b. go to connect to the internet, set up manually, broadband, done.

hope this helps, good luck
