Safety Corridors in the middle of no where....usually 18 -20 mile strips, turn on your lights and fines double in the safety corridor. The purpose of these would be??? And then as we are pumping gas at a convenience store we are informed we are breaking the law, there is no posted sign, and we pump gas everywhere else, is this just an Oregon Law???? How are visitors suppose to know?

Normally you run into safety corridors on a two lane highway where you are required to have your headlights on for the simple reason that on a two lane highway you are bound to run into slower traffic and need to pass in the on coming traffic lane and it is much easier to judge the distance of an on coming vehicle that has its lights on than one that doesn't. As for your second question I don't understand how you would be breaking the law by pumping gas at a convenience store so can't help you there. In California you would have a hard time finding a gas station with an attendant to pump your gas for you anymore as mostly all gas stations have adopted a self serve format of operation. Occasionally you run across one that still offers full service but with the rising gas prices you never see anyone go through the full serve pumps since full serve costs about $0.20 or so more than self serve gas per gallon

Oregon is one of two states in the U.S. that prohibits self-service gas stations. I know, it's kinda nuts, but that is how it is.

It was nice when I lived there and knew nothing else ... but once I lived in places where you pump your own, it's a real hassle to have to wait on the attendant for service!
