In most if not all states it is the same as drinking and driving a car. You are lucky you did not get arrested because then you would have a DUI on your record and there goes the insurance rates.

If you are willing to take the chance of drinking and boating let me know what state you are in so I can stay off the water or at least let me know when you are going to be on the water.

People like you are the ones who give boaters a bad name.

Please do us all a favor and leave the alcohol on shore and use a designated driver.

Here it is legal for them to do that, and the reason why is because if you're drunk (at the limit or above) then you could fall over the boat, push someone else, or kill someone else if you were driving the boat....so that is legal to ticket you.

It is not only legal for them to do that but the similar laws govern boating just like driving. Most if not all states have made it illegal to operate any watercraft while under the influence.

Absolutely. And it is a good thing they did. Many people die each year in boating related accidents involving alcohol. Its just like driving a car under the influence or with an open container.

Er... didn't the fact that you got a ticket tell you the answer to this one? Yes, you got a ticket because it's illegal to be drunk in charge of any vehicle, including a boat.

Yep. You can not operate a motorized vehicle while drinking an alcoholic beverage. THAT is the law - where in that do you get just a car?? Boats are motorized as well. . .

Your darned tooting it is legal. you got a DUI or open container ticket and I suggest if you would like to reduce the amount of damage you have now brought upon yourself I would get my self a good Lawyer.
This goes on your driving record and will affect your insurance rates for your car.
This could cost you a ton of money, for such a little thing called fun.
The law does not recognize FUN.

In maximum if no longer all states it somewhat is comparable to eating and using a motor vehicle. you're fortunate you probably did no longer get arrested with the aid of fact then you truly could have a DUI on your checklist and there is going the coverage fees. in case you're keen to take the possibility of eating and boating permit me understand what state you're in so i will stay off the water or a minimum of permit me understand once you would be on the water. human beings such as you're people who provide boaters a bad call. Please do us all a want and go away the alcohol on shore and use a chosen motive force.
