Usually yes, but it depends on the system. Most of the time 4.0 is a top class grade (A+) and a GPA higher than 3.5, being the average of your class grades, means you recieved more As than Bs. Definitely a good GPA, especially at a difficult school. At my college, for example, 3.5 or higher put you on the dean's list. 3.75 or higher put you on the president's list and gave you the opportunity to graduate with honors.

But sometimes it isn't that simple. Some schools have classes ranked by difficulty so some classes are worth a 5.0 and others a 3.0. My High School had AP classes that were worth 5.0 so as an honors student a 3.814 was average NOT good.

yeah, it's a great GPA cuz it puts you in the A range. However, it also does matter whether it is a high school GPA or a college GPA...or if you're applying to grad schools, WHICH undergrad school.

also, to whoever said it was a B+...false!!!
a 4.0 is an A, a 3.7 is an A- so you're definitely in the A range

Depends. What level of education are you working at? If you're in high school, did you get a 3.814 by taking easy courses and getting high marks, or by taking more challenging courses and doing well? Colleges take both variables into account when you apply. Some universities argue that they would rather accept someone with a slightly lower GPA who's taken more difficult classes than someone who's taken easy classes to ensure a stellar GPA.
hope that helps! :)

Well, I am in high school, have a 4.5 GPA, and want to go to Northwestern University when I am older. I am a freshman, and I plan to keep my 4.5 GPA by getting higher than a B- on my semester exam in English (I have a 93.5% and need at least a 92.5% for an A). I take Honors classes, and I am in lots of clubs and a few sports. I DO FIND TIME TO HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE!-just barely...
It is good for you, but it is not so great for me. I think you only got one B. Good job.

3.814 is an excellent GPA. 4.0 is the highest you can get. And you're GPA is very, very close to that number, which is pretty darn good.
