When asked why all his hundreds of Newspapers in the US only printed 'Bad News', W.R.Hearst said "Because Good News is No News". Was he right?
Incidentally, a TV 'Good News Channel' was so unsuccessful in America that it had to close down. Does that prove Hearst's point?.
(The good news for you may be ten points!)

Hi there Jamjan 100 :o) It would seem that Hearst's view would be right. For some reason we all seem to prefer sensationalism. In comparison to bad news, we think that good news is 'boring.' But it is ironic that, when we watch the news, we complain and ask: "Why is there never any good news?" But, in my opinion, if there were to be an overdose of good news, we would consider is to be no news. I'm afraid we all love a scandal or a story that shocks us.

Sad but true. Tragedy intrigues people. We get caught up in news stories, the sicker the better. Human nature? I suppose.

Point is "no news is good news" simply put, is if there is nothing reported, then you don't have to worry, because there is no bad news.
I have used the phrase to point out not to worry. Such as if you don't hear anything from a situation...then nothing bad has happened.
