A study featured on yahoo and webmd showed that women were very good at picking up cues from a mans face to see if he’d be a good father or a good fling. Turns out, the female nature is to seek out one type of guy to build a nest with, and another to pass genes to her offspring with, and ends up having sex with both at different times of her cycle.

Like many mnogomous species, namely birds, males want to do it whenver, whereas females are more picky and want a mate to help her raise her offspring – but often have flings with high testosterone males with strong masculine features. The result is the mate male, in birds often an older male with less testosterone, raises offspring of a male with stronger genes. Indeed, at least 10% of men are unwittingly raising somebody elses kid!

With humans, studies show that women find family guys attractive 90% of the time, but prefer a hunky hottie during ovulation. Ovulation is when women are most likely to cheat. Plus, many women choose the guys who make good for flings when they’re young and not looking to settle down, but choose men with softer features when they want to build a family. However, I’d be willing to bet their biology doesn’t stop sending the dual signal just because society says its time to grow up.

Of course, we are in a time when women can control whether sex leads to pregnancy, and sex has become about fulfillment as much as procreation. So what if society was built around at least some men getting many partners, other men getting steady sex, and women getting both the mates and flings with no regrets?

Its science fiction, but imagine that disease prevention, birth control, and paternity testing eliminated the need for enforced monogamy. Women could commit to a guy for the long term, but still fulfill her desires when nature calls. Naturally, there would be a group of guys who got a lot of different women, and another group that got a steady stream of sex with one.

If you can put yourself in such a world, is it paradise or hell? Who is it best to be? Who is it worst to be? And what role would you most likely play, and why?

The problem with this scenario is the same reason why adulterous relationships either become new marriages or disintegrate, because people become attached to the people they have sex with. Whatever their intentions are, these connections develop, and complicate situations in which a person's romantic energy is divided. Jealousy is also a factor, and another reason why such a system would be unsustainable. I don't see people as being able to make the emotional disconnects necessary to make such a society feasible.

Hm... I've never heard of that, but I suppose it would explain quite a bit. Personally, I think a society designed like that would make it easier on both genders. Women and men alike wouldn't be made to feel guilty about having more than one partner.

I don't think it is either paradise or hell or that it would be best to be any one of the three groups, as each fits a different personality and each would appeal to some people.

However, I don't see any society like this existing alongside Christianity or any of many other major religions.

being female i am actually aware of this phenomenon, and am aware that women can be much much worse than men when it comes to bed hopping,
however I've been tamed
though ur idea does sound like fun to me.. i don't think it would realistically happen in today's world everyone is too jealous, it would only ever work for a few.... and those few are probably already doing the whole open relationship thing

It could be either just as this world could, it simply depends on how one chooses to see things, looking at the positive, or negative aspects of it as a majority. I probably would be whatever the woman at hand prefered me as, because I always find it nice to aim to please, especially with my life and how things tend to go about with it. Always find happiness. That in no way means i'm cutting back what I want, but I would like it to be someone who suits me, as long as she does, I don't care about the terms. I'm not possessive. or promiscuous for that matter.

i have a partner we each have a set of children to divorced partners.
we live and share the cost of raising our children, where in your utopia do i fit in,or my partner, the challenge of utopian ideals is that someone elses utopia is another persons hell, each of us are unique as individual humans, we only look similar, our upbringing and our genes play an important role in defining who we are as people added to the soup is life experiences that we have faced alone and in partnership and the knowledge to learn from not just our own but other peoples mistakes, it is this life we need to adjust to, these challenges we face without the need to create an hypothetical reality. good luck in your search for a mate.
