You have to be born in this country. An immigrant can never be president of this country because their ties lie with their homeland.

The minimum years of U.S. residency to become President of the United States of America is 35 years from date of birth. Only people that are born as United States citizens are eligible to run for President. So those of you wanting Arnold to run, he can not.

The above answer are not technically true. You must be born a US citizen. You can be born overseas provided you are born on a US military base etc. However, you must be born a US citizen to be eligible for the Presidency. Article 2 Section 1 of the US Constitution. However, the Constitution also provided for the election of the first few Presidents b/c none were natural born US citizens. Fact: Martin Van Buren was the first US born President.

Per the Constitution, You must be a Natural born or US citizen to be eligible for the office of President.
