Several factors come into play here. First there's the weight of the vehicle (the Rodeo is much heavier than your old Corrolla). Second, the aerodynamics of the vehicle are much different; the Rodeo has all the aerodynamics of a brick, which means the front of the vehicle has to push through much more air to attain a given speed. Also, the Rodeo probably has all-wheel or four-wheel drive which also has a negative impact on mileage.
Have you actually checked the mileage you're getting with the Rodeo? Maybe you've driven it around much more (to show it to family, friends, mates) than you drove the Corrolla? Perhaps the extra miles you've put on it would account for the frequent fuel stops?
Another question that comes to mind is, has the Rodeo had a recent tune-up service? Perhaps it's (over)due for some maintenance work?

The Isuzu Rodeo weighs more for one, has a larger engine than your corrolla, plus I'm assuming your Rodeo is 4WD, so you have more parts to move. An SUV is less aerodynamic too so that you have more wind resistance. Plus your Rodeo might have a smaller fuel tank than the corrolla. The V6 engines in the Rodeos are notorius for eatting gas though, so don't be alarmed by using more fuel that's normal for that engine.

Multiple reasons.
Aerodynamics. The Rodeo has a larger profile than the Corolla, and will have higher drag and more resistance as it goes through the air.
Motor/Transmission/Axle ratio combination. A V6 will use more gas than a 4 cylinder, but the transmission and axle ratios also contribute to the fuel efficiency. The Rodeo was designed more as an off road vehicle than an efficient daily driver.
Weight is also a factor. Simply put, a heavier vehicle will take more power to get going and keep going.

The Rodeo is heavier, has a larger gear ratio, bigger engine, less aero dynamic, larger tires and possibly 4 wheel drive.
The bright side is you can fit a lot more stuff inside, drive over curbs, pull a trailer and not get stuck.
Corolla get 40-50 miles to the gallon highway
Rodeo get 18-20 miles to the gallon highway

i mechanic for a living,,and its a lot of different reasons,,the weight,,the high profile, and a lot of it is in the gear ratios they have to run to be able to run the 4 wheel drive system, normal gear ratios would bog it down,,this is the main reason they all get poor mileage, but engine size also helps,,it is what it is,,a 4 wheel drive.and that's all you can make of it,,you cant make them get good mileage,,good luck hope this help,s.
