There was extremely high unemployment and hyperinflation... money was literally becoming worthless overnight. An awfully bleak situation. I am sure most people were in despair. From a very human perspective, it is not so surprising that people struggling for a decade to somehow survive were prone to manipulation by Hitler, who promised them jobs... which were, however, as it turned out, mainly in the war industry...

living in Germany or the US? If they were living in Germany, they were probably feeling sehr gut, but if they were living in the US, they were probably feeling sehr schlecht.
