Age of consent varies by State. Check with your State to determine what the legal age of consent is before traveling down that path. This link http://www.coolnurse.com/consent.htm has some listed, but it's always a good idea to go straight to the source, your State.

"What is Statutory Rape?

It’s a crime committed when an adult has sexual intercourse with a minor. Who is a minor? Anyone under the age of 18, (or 16; check...the current laws in your state.)"

Check out page 8 in the pdf file listed below. It has a chart that lists the States laws on age differences in regards to statutory rape.

Also the next link shows the laws in more detail.

It is not against the law for a 19 y/o man to date a 16 year old girl.
You have sex with her, it is statutory rape, because she is under the age of consent. And if I knew you were having sex with my 16 year old your a - - would be grass and you wouldn't be thinking of sex again!! So you better pick your dates correctly.

It is illegal, since your consider an adult and she is currently a minor. I know it sucks, but even if she agrees or she was the one that wanted to have sex, it's still consider a rape. If anyone finds out and decides and reports you to the authorities (especially true with parents) you will probably go to jail or pay a fee, most likely jail. They do consider age difference a little bit in the court room do. However, if parents agree for you to be dating her and no one has report anything your ok, if anything happens you could just get married with parental consent. Make sure you be careful do, dating a minor is very risky.

If he's over 18 he's considered an adult, and since your 16 your a minor. Adults(over the age of 18, obviously) who have sex with minors can go to jail. It is against the law, and if you would chose to(only if you had sex, and you didn't agree to it) you can put him in jail for statitory rape. So yes its against the law...period...no matter what...and its called statitory rape.
