I can't answer the portion of your question regarding scholarships, but I can tell you that there are programs that offer combined degrees - BS/MD and yes you can enter them directly from high school. Please dont let people give you the wrong information like they did to me. This website will give you a list of the colleges that offer this degree. They have varying requirements. In some programs you may have to maintain a certain gpa to continue, in others your are admitted and complete six-seven years straight through depending on the school. For some, you may not even have to take the MCAT because you are coming straight from high school. please search thoroughly and do not rely on random people's advice. You can't go to med school right after high school (at least not in the United States...dont know about the other countries). You need to go to a 4 year college first.

You might be able to get a full scholarship from the med school that you want to go to, so you should talk to their financial aid department. I dont think there would be a lot of full scholarships available because doctors make a lot of money and they can pay off the debt quickly. Also, the interest rate for student loans is really low and it doesnt change.

You'll need to get your undergraduate (Bachelor's Degree) first. There are lots of scholarships available for this. You have to have your Bachelor's before you can go to Med School. I don't think that scholarships are generally given for Med School. Most people take out loans and pay them back once they are practicing.

Do some research. Some colleges have better pre-med programs than others. Try to decided what Med School you would like to go to, learn their admission requirements, and do what you need to do as an undergrad to make it happen. Med school often takes many, many years. After your four year degree, you spend a few years in med school before spending a few more doing rotations. It can be as many as 8-12 years of college after high school. Good luck!

I've never heard of a circumstance where someone was able to bypass university and jump into med school directly from high school. You will need to attend a post-secondary institution(university) for at least 3 years. While attending university you will have a chance to receive a scholarship.

You can't go straight to med school from high school. Not in the US anyways.

There are full scholarships to med schools, but they're EXTREMELY rare. I really wouldn't hold out hope for one of those. I've only heard of one person who got it, and it was to Harvard too. His little brother was my friend and that guy was simply amazing. Yet he didn't get any kind of scholarships from Harvard, just the regular admission. Since I thought my friend was so amazing, I can't imagine what his brother had done to get those scholarships. We went to a magnet school where a 4.0 unweighted GPA averaging 6 AP classes and SAT scores of 1550-1600 are commonplace. And my friend still stood out from those people, so I can't imagine what his brother was like.

In many other countries (Spain is one example), you can go directly to medical school out of high school. If you are in the US, you need to get a BS before going to medical school.

Most Doctors fund their school with student loans. Since Doctors make a lot of money when they get out -- paying off the loans is not a problem.

You can probably get someone to pay for your medical degree is you are willing to commit time after graduating. For example, the Army would be happy to pay -- as long as you stay in the Army when you are done.

Unfortunately, scholarships for medical school are very rare indeed.

Full scholarships in medical school are given to people either

1) From highly disadvantaged backgrounds
2) That have scored insanely high (40+) on MCAT and the schools fight to score these candidates
or
3) who are willing to pay it back in an equivalent medical service to the military (believe me, you'll hear plenty of good things about this from the military and plenty of bad things about it from jaded doctors who have done it)

You will need a 4-year college degree to attend medical school. Choose a science-related major in college (biology, for example), and take courses that will prepare you for medical school. You'll need chemistry and biology courses, among other things. In order to become a Medical doctor you first must graduate from a four year university or college and obtain a bachelor's degree. It is not necessary to major in a science or mathematic major, but it doesn't hurt to give yourself a leg up by already familiarizing yourself with basic biology and mathematics. After graduating, you must then study, register for, and then PASS the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test). Once you've done that, bunker down for a long, but hopefully rewarding pursuit of an advanced degree in medicine.
