We had a major ice storm and were stranded at home with no electricity (but we do have a fireplace thank goodness) for 9 days. I live in Tennessee, in a very rural area, there was no way we could drive anywhere. I don't really think that counts as home maintanence though. So I'll say the time our water heater busted. Water went everywhere, and it had been seeping for sometime, though I wasn't aware of it before it busted. We had to replace the flooring in the bathroom due to the damage under it.

Prior flooding problem,do to poor engineering ,drainage. Woke up early 4:00am get out of bed feet ankle deep in water.Call
maintenece guy. 3 rooms flooded. clean up mess. Takes 2 days.
Maint. manager gets contracter to fix .Puts in sump pump, cleans drain pipe. 2 weeks later same thing worse.Clean mess again. Contracter digs trench around house.Paints on special covering to keep out moisture.I say he put another sump in that way if 1 don't work the other will.He say 1 enough. IT HAPPENED AGAIN.
Sued the contracter. He had no licence he was using a friends,he was also a deadbeat dad.

Broken main valve on water line. Water company could not find the outside valve box, it was under a driveway. The water was gushing into the electrical service entrance panel (breaker box.) Also, it was a weekend in a very small town.
