CSI won't be the same without him?

He's on a sabbatical for four weeks then he's supposed to be back. Eventually he plans to return to the theater but I don't for-see that in the near future. I agree that it won't be the same without him.

Just temporarily. He is going to go teach at a college. He said in the episode he would be back in four weeks after one made the comment he was leaving for good. He'll be back, CBS would be crazy to get rid of him, he is so much better than the the redheaded guy in Miami. If they get rid of one, let it be him! But I completely agree with you, CSI wouldn't be the same without him.

He's doing a play for about 4 weeks (the real life actor) and will be back in a month on CSI. The show wouldn't be the same without him, but he's not gone permenantly.

He is an executive producer of the show; he is probably going nowhere. He may be bored with the show and/or has other work to do. The others can hold down the fort while he is gone. He will be back.

He is leaving permanently to pursue other acting roles in film and the stage. It certainly isn't going to be the same and when I first saw the ad for the upcoming show, I said to myself, "say it ain't so". He is the bedrock of that show....I'm going to miss him terribly.

William Petereson is taking a leave to do some broadway shows. I don't think he is leaving the show permanently, hopefully, he will return.
