Between 120-130 credit hours. If this is a semester based system, and you average about 12-15 credit hours every semester, it would take about that much time. However, it really does depend on the major, the school you will be attending, and if you have any Remedial classes that need to be satisfied or CPCs (College Prepatory Course). This varies from state to state, and school to school. Talk with an advisor at the school that you are interested in attending.

I randomly chose a B.A. in history from the UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) website and the minimum was 120 semester hours. That seems to be a standard minimum for 4-year state schools in Illinois; however, more credit hours can be required depending on the major. Always check with the college catalog and your university advisor.

That completely depends on what part of the country you're in. Illinios is 'midwest' but I don't know if it falls under east or west coast credit requirements. Also, it makes a difference if they use semesters or quarters. I'd go to their website and see if there are any links that will tell you. Most college websites have pages that list requirements for graduation. Here's the link to the page you need.

Most require 160. Depends on the school and whether semester or quarter basis for credits are used.
