Sort of. For most stuff it is ok, but if you want your info to be bulletproof I'd doublecheck somewhere else.

I use wikipedia quite a bit, and I've found the information to be very reliable. While it's true that "anyone can edit articles" to say anything they want, it's also true that vandalism and false information are very quickly detected and corrected. As a practical matter, I've never found malicious/incompetent editing to be a problem.
I wouldn't use it as a source in a scholarly journal, but for the purposes of looking up information to satisfy my own curiosity, Wikipedia is excellent. It's as reliable as any encyclopedia, and much more current.

Yes, mostly. In spite of its limitations as an open source of recording, Wikipedia gives adequate information for the searcher. And it also gives sources for further reading. You can always update the information if you have some more facts. But for scholarly research you may have to seek your own sources.

No, it is not. The information can be edited by anyone. People could edit the encyclopedia to say something like "Pigs are one of few mammals that can fly." It's good to find a basic overview of a topic, but I'd definitely stay away from using it as a source in an essay or something.

It is a good resource but not citeable according to the Society of Professional Journalists. You can edit anything on the page.

It is wiki or encarta, there are few sources out there. Better cross index your searches and know your information before trusting it, just for keeps.
