why can carlos mencia make jokes about fat people and mexicans and no one cares or calls him racist? (he IS fat. he IS NOT from mexico).

why can dave chappelle say he loves fried chicken and it's cool, but if i say black people like fried chicken, it's racist?

i don't like racist people either. but people get carried away with thinking ANYTHING you say about another race is racist.

to say "we're all the same" is kind of silly. we're all humans, but we're all from different cultures, too. believe me, the culture over in japan is vastly different from the culture in america. america is all about individualism.. there you live as a group. see? we don't all live the same. black people love rap and basketball, so what?

you people go around pointing fingers, saying people are racist that you don't even know ... KIND OF DISCRIMINATORY, DON'T YOU THINK?

I guess it all depends on the context in which it's used (most common answer for this, I guess). I personally see nothing wrong with you saying "black people love fried chicken". That's partially true, but more of a stereotype than you'd care to believe.

But, you hit the nail on the head when you said "So what?" I think the difference here is that comedians are given plenty of "slack" because they're saying things and speaking truths as material... to make jokes. 9 times out of 10 there's a punch line or it's going somewhere as part of a story. Yet, if you go back to school and try to crack a joke on one of your black friends and say, "that's why you like fried chicken", or something stupid.. it will get taken the wrong way.... BECAUSE..... "so what?". If YOU say it, it's like... What's your point? Where are you going with this? Yeah we're all different "racially", but why you gotta point THIS out - you racist or something?

See what I mean? Stupid, I know. And I don't even know if I'm right or if that makes sense... was just an idea.

You should never classify a race like that. A race and a culture are two different things. To say that black people love rap and basketball is like saying that white people love country and nascar. Clearly that's incorrect, so why say it? When saying that a culture/region is a certain way, then yeah I can see how that is okay. But not all black people live in the ghetto or the inner cities. Not all white people live in suburbs either. Black people live all over the world, each person likes what they like, are what they are. It has nothing to do with the race, but mostly to do with where you live.

If you're white like me, you can't make fun of anyone else or it's taboo. But you know, black people call me a cracker all the time, but I can't be like, "Hey, go eat your fried chicken." I don't agree with the way that our society in America (or elsewhere) is set up. Mabye it's just me. And I think it's stupid that black people can call other black people the "n" word while we can't. So, I've decided that now I can call any white people "cracka", but if anyone else does, I can haress them.

Watch "Chappelle's Show Lost Episodes". I forget which episode exactly but there's only four. Charlie Murphy breaks racism down with the audience...especially about fried chicken and all that.

Not all black people like rap and basketball. Just like not all white people are insufficient on the dance floor. Stereotypes are just ignorant.

I think it makes a big difference if it is said mean-spirtied, or in a derogatory manner. Now, call me a cracker all you want.
