I have a single long-finned leopard danio and over the past year or so I've added all kinds of fish--platies, cardinal tetras, guppies, etc. and the danio all. The only fish it hasn't killed is a catfish (presumably, because the catfish is considerably larger than it).

My latest edition is a rainbow shark and since I added him, the danio has returned to his all too familiar routine of biting fins. I fear it's only a matter of time before the shark passes away.

Any suggestions on fish that can live with danios, or shall I just return the bully to the local petstore (which would probably mean his )?

Danios are a shoaling fish and need groups of 6 or more. Since you only have 1, that explains perfectly why it is so aggressive. It is very typical for singular danios to act this way. Get him 5 buddies and he should calm down.

Many fish such as the danio needs to be kept in groups of 5 or more. This is because they are schooling fish and will stress and be agressive if alone. Get him a couple school mates...about 4 and then try adding other types of fish...serpae tetras, gouramis, etc...

i might upload a style of guramies to the aggregate. they seem to be a greater fish, yet get alongside nicely in an area tank. a style of catfish may well be excessive high quality too. in certainty a tank that great can help and could elect greater scavengers. A tank that great can help a huge inhabitants. it is going to look actual good with some great colleges. Like strengthen the quantity of neons to approximately a minimum of a dozen. be careful with some Tetras however, some species are aggressive. i would not positioned any frogs in, they are very messy. They leave great turds. One Plecostomus may well be cautioned, it gets massive in a tank that length. and could compete for food with the different scavengers. And win. Oh, to respond to your question...sure, its a competent starter combination. notwithstanding i think of the glass cats are slightly too mushy to be put in a starter tank. perhaps later whilst the tank is greater pro they are going to do greater beneficial. the different catfish is nice. additionally, make helpful your Barbs are actually not the bigger fish, they gets aggressive and are commonplace to be fin biters. Forgive me. I stay interior the US, A 180L tank referres to a one hundred eighty gallon long tank. there is likewise a tutor tank that's taller fairly than longer.

I don't have this problem with my Danios. Maybe you should buy your danios from a different store. I keep Danios with female bettas. Either one female or a group of 4 or more.

Danios need a school of their own usually. They establish their own school and usually won't bother other species. I have never had any problems keeping them with tetras, cory cats, guppies and other community fish.

Danois do best in a group of 5 or more fish. This allows them to chase each other around instead of the other fish in your tank.
