I have both and feel guilty sometimes!

Even though my bird flies free around the house in the day and is tame, I still feel sorry he's not in the wild. (I know he wouldnt survive out there!!)
Do you feel that way??

Yes I know exactly what you mean. I am strongly involved with animal rights and I believe that all animals have the right to a happy, healthy, comfortable life. Unfortunately, centuries of domestication mean that that isn't always possible. I also looove animals and love having them around me, which kind of conflicts. I think the 'supply and demand' theory is true here, ie if people stop buying caged birds then pet shops will (eventually) stop selling them.
But once you have a caged bird, the only thing to do is give them the best life possible, which it sounds like you are doing!

Some birds are not made to be in the wild. I like birds better cause once they get used to you then there's a shoulder pet around the house
