If there's life elsewhere in the universe they've got to think we're nuts for taking such poor care of the world we live in.

Far too many people confuse stewardship with dominion, totally unaware that the Earth is a living planet of which they are intimately connected. I suppose when Maya has had enough, she will let us know.

Actually, there are plans underway to establish a lunar base on the Moon with our eyes set on eventually colonizing Mars.

By the time we've screwed Mars up, we'll have discovered hyperspace travel and will be able to reach the aliens' worlds, kill the aliens, and colonize the planets they've been keeping all neat and tidy for us. It doesn't matter how fast we trash THOSE planets because with hyperspace travel, the whole universe of planets is at our disposal.

See? Not so crazy after all! We know what we're doing. :)

I agree. People are too self-centered to take notice, and to realize that what we have now will not last forever.

Also, those that do feel bad may think, "Well, I'm just 1/6,000,000,000! Why should I go out of my way to help the planet out when I won't make a difference?"

Bull....

Simply because caring for the planet is unprofitable for businesses and inconvenient for average people. Gore didn't call it "An Inconvenient Truth" for nothing.

It's too inconvenient. Too affordable to treat it badly and too costly to take care of it. Our priorities lie in our finances. In our families. "Making a living". We don't have time to respect one another or take care of the only planet we have. Don't you know this?

It's human nature to not doing anything we don't want to unti we absolutely have to. Hopefully it won't be too late.

The other mentality on this is that what difference will my efforts make if most people aren't doing it anyway?

My first priority is the survival and the growth of the human race. For those who love the environment more than human beings they seriously need to get their priorities in order.

It's like what some of these other people said. Its only because, in human nature, that we care about certain things, things that we see in front of us things that are tangible to us.
I'm not saying that's all of us but in a way it kind of is.

That's a load of crap. Once we finish with this planet we can move onto the next.

It's human nature. Most people only care about what they have to, when they have to, and not before. Sad but true.

But not everyone's like that!
