If that is your desire. I wrestled in high school & i have seen what some of the guys went thru trying to loose weight to make weigh in. If you naturally weigh 170 then don't try to go lower than 167 weight class. Its not hard to loose 3 lbs. in a pinch. By working out & getting into shape you should easily be able to wrestle 167 lb. class. If you try to go lower than that you risk damaging your health permanently. From the guys that I wrestled with in high school 2 still suffer from anerexia attacks. They took diahreatics alot to loose weight fast to make weigh in's. The long term effects are lifelong, so please don't do this. If you want to loose more than five lbs I'd advise you to reconsider and wrestle a weight class close to your natural weight. Once you are in shape it is very difficult to loose weight. You have already lost what you will loose naturally by getting into shape. It's easier on you and makes the sport more fun if you are not constantly trying to loose weight.

If you have a whole year before you plan on doing, try to start working out regularly (lifting to build strength and running to build endurance), and keep it up until near to your next wrestling season. After nearly a year of lifting and running you should get a good idea of where you feel best weight-wise. Some people focus so much on trying to get to a lower weight class that they don't have enough energy to learn to be a good wrestler. You should aim to compete at the weight class at which you will be evenly matched (strength-wise) with your opponents, while still being able to feel energetic. If you can still feel good at a lower weight class, then it will probably be to your advantage to get there. For now though, just try to get into top shape, and build some muscle up while you're at it: a few months from the start of season will be a good time to figure out what weight to aim for. If you know anyone who wrestles, talk to them about training together during the offseason. This will give you incentive to keep up with your lifting routine, and you may also be able to learn some moves. Good luck.

Try some supplements
I'm a competitive Bodybuilder with a rather high metabolism so I know how hard it is to gain weight. Some of the best stuff is whey protein shakes combined with a high carb, high protein diet.
You see the goal to gaining weight (lean body mass) is to eat more calories than your body can burn. By making sure you eat enough calories above your metabolic rate, you will gain weight!in order to make sure it the right kind of weight you MUST train hard also watch your fat input.
On this kind of diet you will gain some fat but after you're gained a small amount of LBM (around 5 lbs or more) cut down on your calories and do more cardio and the excess fat will melt off!
Also try these supplements (look on bodybuilding.com)
Muscle-Juice and Cyto Gainer
They're great weight gainers and cheap, I get a full 10 lb tub of muscle juice at my local supplemet store for only 35$
Do NOT try steriods at your age!!! I'm serious! for many teens you see will not see gains and you might still get the side effects from taking the roids.
(If you must please try to wait until your in your early to mid 20's)
Also: With many teens after you stop taking them you will eventually lose most of your gains.)
Good Luck Dog! (And Good Luck with the wrestling.)

Lift weights, run to get yourself in shape, and stop eating junk food (and reduce the total amount of food that you eat at each meal by reducing portion size).
