By the way, my grandad told me years ago if a murder happened 20 miles from here, you wouldnn't find out for weeks. If something like that happens now, you'd frind out straight away. War has been waged since the dawning of time. The problems we see now in the middle east are the result of centuries of border disputes and what not.

like you said, its all about the news. it's not that worse things are happening, its just that we hear about it all. and the more bad news we're exposed to, the more dangerous we'll perceive our world to be and, ultimately, the more afraid and aggressive we'll become. you should read up on gerbners "cultivation theory" (in particular, his "mean world syndrome") if you're interested.
because of all this everyone seems to be so disillusioned. kids aren't allowed to play outside anymore, few people introduce themselves to new neighbours, you can't pick up hitchhikers at the side of the road.... in becoming so afraid we're losing sight of the fact that people are, for the mostpart, fundamentally good.
soon there'll be no such thing as community. hopefully that'll be after i'm dead and gone, the thought of it makes me very sad.

People in general think the world is a worse place to live in now than ever before because mostly we hear bad news. Good news just doesn't make it into newspapers much or TV either.
I believe that this is a great world with some exceptions. When people need help, others reach out.
I always think of the field of medicine and see so much progress. Things that couldn't be cured not so far in the past, can be cured now. Things for which there was no treatment in the past can now be treated.
If one wants to look at the world negatively, then they'll find a negative world.
I'm glad I'm alive during this period in history.

In 1962 the international became on a verge of give way of a nuclear warfare between united states and u.s. because of the Cuban missile disaster. It incredibly virtually occurred. Ever for the reason that then all international conflicts have been fairly community and comparatively minor. it incredibly is virtually a million/2 a century of fairly gentle conflict. The terrorist "delusion" is aimed in the direction of focusing on "evil" Arabs, collectively as the west virtually steals oil from the middle East. Greed hate and funds have consistently been minor problems. The media to a pair degree is very detrimental and traitorous. however the only element which you point out that we incredibly desire to fret approximately is worldwide-warming and its knock-on outcomes. it incredibly is exciting which you communicate approximately bringing harmless toddlers into the international. We have been all that when. might you deny your guy or woman existence because of the hype and manipulation that exists right this moment interior the actual international? your toddlers heavily isn't wedged up chimneys or die in pits and factories. existence will consistently be complicated, it incredibly is the human way. yet in worldwide words issues are transforming into greater beneficial. So cheer-up!

Yep, there have been many terrible things that happened in the past, we have better standard of living, well in the west anyway. We don't send our kids up chimneys either these days! Our average life expectancy is much higher, we have a health service, kids are rude but they'll get what's coming to em when they are behind bars lol. We had all those empires of people pillaging and raping, not much fun compared today, where we can sit on our computers all night or watch a dvd.

I don't know if the World is worse today than back in it's History.
Could the reason we think it's worse be, because we know SO MUCH more about events, as they occur than ever before?
The World has always been awful. Could be true.....

I am 50 years old and have seen much change in society.
It is getting worse.
People are more rude and inconsiderate than ever.
And that leads to more bad behavior in others who now see it as normal.

People have always and will always think that, because it has always and will always be true.
Can I remind you that the ancient Greeks didn't know what the world was coming to when a timepiece - the sundial - was invented.
From there on in....
