If the numbers are your finger you use how are you supposed to play with one finger in several differnt positions. I thought the fret is determined by the lines on the row.

Also how can you learn how to make it not make a sound after to pick a string and pick up yor finger to move it. Like to pick to play a note and when you pick up your finger it like plucks it again and makes it make a sound. I can't make it stop.

This is the intro to "Stairway To Heaven."
The way you have it written you would;
finger fret 7 on the D (4th) string,
finger fret 5 on the G (3rd) string,
finger fret 5 on the B (2nd) string,
finger fret 5 on the E (1st) string, then bring your pick across the 4 strings you have your fingers on.
That is an Am chord and what you've just done is called an arpeggio.
Once you get that part down you now put your pinky on fret 7 of the E (1st) string and your middle finger on fret 6 of the D (4th) string. you will have to pluck these two strings at the same time with two fingers on your other hand.
Then go back to fingering the 5th fret on the B (2nd) and G (3rd) strings, picking them in reverse this time.
Finger fret 7 on the E (1st) string, plucking it.
Place your pinky on fret 8 on the E (1st) string and your index finger on fret 5 of the D (4th) string and pluck both of those at the same time.
You can continue with the rest in the same way.
If you have any more questions about this you can email me.

First you need to use the right font. Choose courier new - it's fixed width. Then the numbers will line up. This looks like the start of Stairway to Heaven. The lines represent the strings of a guitar. The numbers are the frets. So the 1st note will be on the 7th fret of the D string (3rd thickest). This note will be an A. The strings in order from thickest to thinnest are E A D G B E.
This notation is called a Tab.
edit: The numbers do not represent your fingers - they represent the frets.
To stop the notes from ringing after you play them, lay your picking hand on the strings momentarily. This will stop them from sounding. This comes with practice and soon becomes natural. Try a few songs with strumming instead of picking, this will improve your rhythm and palm muting techniques.

The alpahaphet EADGBE refers to the open strings on the guitar which the first string from the top is E follow by A and D and so on. The numbers refer to the frets. So if it's number 7 on a D string, you play the seventh fret on the D string and 5 on the G string you play the 5th fret on the G string and so on. For the first 4 number 7555, it actually makes up a chord which requires a certain fingering to press it. I would suggest you use your ring finger to press the 7th fret on the D string and your index finger to press the remaining 3 notes on the 5th fret. Hope this helps.
