straight up? it is for the yankees deffinatly but the marlins will be screwed out of their minds... minor leagures maybe could even it out maybe a prospect or so on the yankee side would balance it out a little as long as its not an up and coming potential star such as possibly phillip hughes and other yankee pitching prospects i would not care to give away maybe a good minor league 2nd baseman or something because cano is sticking around

NO WAY. Randy Johnson is old and will probably only play 1 or 2 more years. Dontrelle Willis is a young pitcher who will probably play baseball for a long time, much longer than Johnson will play from here on. Willis is a pitcher that can help a team compete and will continue to help teams compete. Randy Johnson has lost that status. He has lost velocity, which is what made him such a great pitcher for the Mariners, Astros, and his previous tenure with the D-Backs. He still has a decent slider, but that as well has lost the bite on it.
The D-Backs made a mistake in giving up a good middle relief pitcher and 3 good prospects. I guess the Yankees always find ways make a good trade for themselves though... Willis on the other hand still has nasty stuff, but he will probably end up with another team when his contract expires or even at the trade deadline this upcoming season. So maybe he WILL end up with a team like the Yankees or D-Backs.
To answer your question though it is NOT a fair trade. Teams don't trade young pitching stars for someone who is old and about to retire.

It is not a fair trade but it would be a good trade for the
Yankees to get Dontrelle in exchange for Randy Johnson. Age alone

I would say that that Willis is a significantly better value. He is young and has the potential to have many more great seasons. In fact, he may not have reached his prime yet.
Randy Johnson has been much better than Willis in the past, but lately, his age has shown. Johnson is declining in ability and may be mediocore in the future. Besides, Johnson probably won't play much longer. I'd be surprised if he lasts more than 3 more years.

Randy Johnson is old, and from what I understand, injured. I don't think he's going to have much of a fantastic return. Willis is young has a bright future ahead of him.

You've got to be kidding me. First of all, their contracts are completely different. Secondly, there is a huge age difference. Third, there is a huge current ability difference. The Yankees would love to have Dontrelle Willis probably but they're going to have to wait for him to become a free agent.
