I RSVP'd "no" to my friend's evite for her New Years Party. She lives 200 miles away. She didn't say that she felt that I owed her an explanation until something else made her upset with me. This is the something else: I forgot that her mother's friend asked for a place to rent back in Sept or Oct and ended up renting to someone else yesterday after having this vacancy for a couple of weeks. She feels that we owe each other explanations, I feel she should communicate her concerns before little things snowball. We went round and round on me asking her to accept/forgive and how she feels that I made an excuse and I could have ridden with some of her family who live near me that plan to go and I would not have to incur any expense of my own. I feel that people should not go places if they can't pull their own weight or expect handouts from others. She was offended because she considers me family. She says she learned her lesson about me. Her side has similar title on "Answers"

over the years i've found u have 2 do what is right 4 u & if she's a true friend she wont blame u or accuse u she will accept ur decision even if she's disapointed. if she still goes on about things remind her that u feel the same way about her & that u understand her disapointment! life goes on no matter how bad lets get over this & get on with it

I don't think that you owe her any explanations about the party. That is really so small, I can't see why all the drama over it. As for the renting, you forgot. I can see why she would be a little upset but I'm sure you apologized. I think the two of you just need to have a long talk about why you are friends in the first place.

The only explanation is an honest answer. If thta's good enough then-she'll have to get glad in the same shoes she got mad in.
