Daisy is correct.
Floppy disks are obsolete.
It is still optional when you build a PC at the manufactures website (a waist of money I think)
My laptop bought 2 years ago dont have one, not needed or missed either. :)

No one really uses floppy anymore. One of the last computers to have floppy drive was the Compaq Presario 1500 laptop series which by now is about 6 years old.

Floppy disk drives are very old and almost never used now. If you want you can get an external one via usb. The link provided is just one example of an external floppy drive.

Your standard "floppy disk" only holds about 1.43 MB of information. Your average file wouldn't come close to fitting. Think about it; an MP3 file is between 3 and 5MB. What are you actually going to do with a floppy disk? My suggestion: buy a 512MB or a 1GB memory stick, flash drive, jump drive whatever you like to call it. I prefer the scan-disk brand. Good stuff. Best of luck.

Floppy Disks are going out dated. There almost obsilete. Most of the new computers don't come with Floppy drives. U can put one in your computer though if u really need one that bad.

floppies are a dying breed. Most drivers are now on cd disc, so the floppy disk is no longer needed. Installing raid in win xp that has to have drivers....the floppy is needed, but other than that...not much use anymore.

They used to be standard but since floppy disks are not used much anymore and are becoming obsolete, computers do not come with the drives anymore unless you specify that you want it.

Check with the store if should have one. Unless you still have your files in flopy disks i suggest you go for removable drive instead which you can plug into the USB. they're much more reliable than floppy disks.

Frfeaked me out also!I put one in mine. Waiting on the free USB flash drives to arrive. Made the Backup and Image sets on CD-RW on first boot, and do one set every 4 days. One CD-RW is just Emergency Boot Loaders so I can at least access the admin/root. This new PC is going Linux and not MicroLinux! I am about fed up with that outfit, they took all the fun out of computing.
Ubuntu for me
