I heard that they can cause nerve damage in your hands over time, since one part of your hands are warm, but then the fingers are cold. Is this true?

There are a lot of urban myths out there that a lot of people pass off as fact. It would take a lot more than a bad 80s fad to do nerve damage to your hands.
Theoretically, if the gloves were really warm, and you got frostbite in the tips that werenot covered, maybe, but theoretically is far from what could really happen in the real world.

No this is not true. My husband works outside all year and uses those gloves. Fishermen and hunters use them as well (both of which my husband is).. Now if your finger tips became frostbitten, then yeah..you would lose some fingertips!

that is an old tail. just dont wear them out side in the snow because they can get soo numb that it might hurt your fingers. get normal gloves

no, I dont think so as long as they were leather corseted to your hand 24/7. I think you will be fine:)
