I don't know about GPA (which of course, depends on how rigorous the course load is...ie 5 A's in typing don't equal 5 A's in AP and Honors classes...)
Re: SATs... based on the old test, or two components of the new, it looks like the middle range for Verbal is 530-620 and the middle range for Math is 550-640. (Per Fiske Guide to Colleges.)
Also, per Fiske Guide, on a scale of 1-5, UConn gets a 4 for Academics, 3 for Social and 3 for Quality of Life.
It also indicates that "overlap" schools with UConn are: Northeastern, Boston University, U of Massachusetts, U of Rhode Island and Boston College.
While UConn accepts 53% of applicants (which is high vs. more selective schools), 3/4 of students are from CT which means obviously that it's harder for out-of-staters to get in. How much harder, I don't know/can't tell. Perhaps you can inquire with the admissions office what percent of in-state applicants are accepted vs. out-of-state and whether "standards" for each group are "consistent."
Good luck!
