usually they have the top of the rotation pitcher start it off such as randy johnson did because he was the #1 starter on the rotation in which logically andy pettite will most likely not be the #1 starter of the rotation... if they want to go with sentimental value and a type of welcome home thing they will do it, but if they go with the usual of the starting pitcher being the #1 top of the rotation starter it will probably someone else.... my best bet is moose or cheing meing wang because he at this point in time is the best pitcher on the staff but he is still young and not a veteran yet... so if they go with a good veteran yankee pitcher im gunna have to say moose... if he is better than everyone else? no... will starting andy pettite mean more and be better to watch more sentimental and memorable? yes whos the best pitcher? wang

I'd say Wang. He's the new star pitcher for the team. He opened up the ALDS. I think that promotion above mussina says he may be the home opener for the Yankees in 07.

Mussina over Wang and Petite....he's been their work horse for a couple of years now.
Of the three Wang will have the better year but you give the nod to Mussina. All three are top notch guys.

I would guess they'll set it up as Moose, Pettitte, Wang, Igawa, Pavano but if the Rocket signs up for the whole season then no doubt he'll be in the mix.

I agree entire heartedly. through fact the Yankees and Blue Jays are out of the play off image, Girardi could do the same for Jeter. enable the yank followers say good bye to a countrywide monument how ever they see greater healthful.

I think that out of respect for his being the oldest tenured staff pitcher they'll give the opener to Mussina.

I would like to see him pitch in the home opener. It would be a great way to welcome him back to the Yankees. If he doesn't start, Chien Ming Wang will.
