The doctor at the E.R. heard a heart beat when he checked her also. She has been out of the E.R. for 7 days know. Im scared that we will lose our baby. Im in Iraq and cant come home for 2 more months. Can anyone tell me what I should expect. Thank you

If your girlfriend is having a eptopic pregnancy (the egg was fertilized in the fallopian tube) then doctors will need to abort the pregnancy.

I am soo sorry. I have had 2 previous miscarriages and I understand the pain she is going through.

Because she is having a tubal pregnancy, she needs to have the baby removed as soon as possible. It is vary rare that a baby can be saved. If not removed it can cause damage to her tubes, thus making it almost impossible to have more children. The tube can burst, basically. Get her to the ER asap! The chunks are either blood clots or tissue. Are you sure she is having a tubal pregnancy? They may have given her a drug to induce a miscarriage or surgery may have to be done. I don't want to scare you but some women have died from this, get a second opinion!

Oh and in response to someone saying you can't hear a heartbeat at 7 weeks. Yes you CAN! Like I said I have had 2 previous miscarriages and in both I heard the heartbeat before 8 weeks!!! I am currently pregnant and once again I heard the heartbeat before 8 weeks. I don't know you, but I will be praying for you.

If she is having a tubal pregnancy (ectopic) she needs to get to the doctor ASAP and have what basically amounts to an abortion. Ectopic pregnancies can be deadly to the female if not corrected. There is no chance of survival for the baby.
It is not uncommon, so the E.R. docs should have checked for this. Some bleeding is common throughout the pregnancy, but if it is heavy this could indicate a problem. The chunks do not sound good at all. She needs to get to a OB/GYN to have this checked out.

TWO YEARS AGO, I HAD AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. THAT IS WHAT A TUBAL PREGNANCY IS CALLED MEDICALLY. IF SHE WENT IN AND HAD AN ULTRASOUND, THE DOCTOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL RIGHT AWAY WETHER IT WAS TUBAL OR NOT. WHEN AN ULTRASOUND IS GIVEN, AND IT IS TUBAL, THE BABY DOES NOT APPEAR IN THE UTERUS, IT APPEARS OUTSIDE OF THE UTERUS OR IN THE FALLOPIAN TUBES. IF THIS OCCURS, SURGERY IS MOST LIKELY PERFORMED. I HAD TO UNDERGO SURGERY. I WENT IN WITH EXTREME CRAMPING AND SEVERE BLEEDING. THEY GAVE ME AN ULTRASOUND AND REALIZED THAT I IN FACT HAD AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. I UNDERWENT LAPROSCOPIC SURGERY TO REMOVE THE BABY. WHEN A BABY IS CONCIEVED OUTSIDE THE UTERUS, THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR SURVIVAL. YOUR GIRLFRIEND NEEDS TO GO BACK INTO THE HOSPITAL AND DEMAND AN ULTRASOUND BE DONE TO SEE IF IN FACT SHE IS MISCARRYING, OR HAS AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. GOOD LUCK, I HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL FOR THE TWO OF YOU. BY THE WAY, ATLGAGRL SAID YOU CAN NOT HEAR A HEART BEAT AT SEVEN WEEKS! THAT IS NOT TRUE BY ANY MEANS, YOU CAN HEAR A HEART BEAT BY 25 DAYS OF CONCEPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN LOOK IT UP ON ANY WEB SITE AND SEE THAT IS A FACT. I SHOULD KNOW CONSIDERING I JUST GAVE BIRTH TWO MONTHS AGO. BY THE TIME A BABY IS SEVEN WEEKS OLD IN THE UTERUS, IT HAS ALREADY BEGUN TO DEVELOP A BRAIN AND NERVOUS SYSTEM AS WELL AS A STRONG HEART BEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND BONES SUCH AS THE SPINE!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK AGAIN. I HOPE ALL IS WELL!!!!1

If she has a tubal pregnancy and is bleeding heavily she needs to go to ther ER immediately. This could be life threatening for her. There is no way to save a tubal pregnancy. The fetus simply cannot grow in the tube and once it does start to grow, it causes the tube to rupture (which can put the mom's life in danger).
So if she continues to bleed (with or without cramping) she needs to go to the ER.

However, at 7 weeks, there is no way to hear a heartbeat. If they did an ultrasound, they could have seen it, but you can't hear a heartbeat that early. If they did an ultrasound, they should have been able to see if the fetus was growing in the uterus or if it was ectopic (in a tube or outside the uterus).

Unfortunately, a tubal/ectopic pregnancy can't go full term. And trying to do so can endanger the mother's life since once the baby reaches a certain size, it'll rupture the fallopian tube or ovary (wherever it implanted), and she could bleed to death. Most likely she'll have a miscarriage, or the doctor will recommend terminating the pregnancy to protect the mother's life.

I'm sorry you're both going through this, and I hope everything works out for the best.

And I hope you stay safe over there, and get home soon!

im sorry to tell you this but i dont think tubal pregnacies are savable, they are actually quite threatening to the mothers health. If left untreated the tube can rupture which can cause many complications including fertility, possibly death. Im not sure why the dr didnt mention any of this to you guys...are you sure it is a confirmed t ubal pregnancy or are you just assuming because of the bleeding. Either way it doesnt sound good :( The heavy bleeding with clots is a sign of miscarrige. Best of luck and if this continues please have your girlfriend seek medical attention right away.

I'm sorry, but there is no way to save a tubal pregnancy if thats what it is. The baby will grow and ruin her chances of being able to concieve ever again. Bleeding with clots present in the blood is a sign of miscarrige, unfortunately. I hope all is well for you...

He heard the heartbeat at 7 weeks? Seems a little soon... If she's bleeding heavily, then miscarriage is a possibility. She should go back into the emergency room; heavy bleeding is not normal during pregnancy.

To be brutally honest, expect the worst but hope for the best. I hope everything works out for you.

If the baby is in the tubes there is no way of not losing the baby. I'm sorry... But you state she is bleeding heavily and there are chunks, that sounds like she is having a miscarriage....She needs to go back to the Dr. so she can be checked...
