Usually you need to contact your service provider to see if they will open it up. Some cell companies actually have collect calling open and many are considering opening it up because of the incredible amounts of inquiries. Right now there is no specific list of companies that allow them, but I believe Alltel Wirless does, but call them first to confirm.

Some jails will extend a collect call to your cellphone, but then ask you to enter your credit card number for billing.

If that doesn't work, then you have to contact the jail or the jail's telecom provider to set up a prepaid account.

All cellphones, even if by settlement or prepaid enable both incoming and outgoing calls. After attempting yet another 'prepaid' telephone, my husband and that i both were given Virgin phones ... Virgin has the perfect insurance, and is amazingly decrease priced ... we've our phones because we desire a telephone to call 911 if one human beings receives ill, yet we not often use them in the different case ... the Virgin telephone supplies us 3 months for as low as $20 as long as we do not dissipate our 'minutes' ... and we are going to consistently carry Virgin phones till the organization is going out of organization or is offered out ... and that is amazingly not likely because of the 'proprietor' of each little thing with the Virgin call ...
