An iPod can only be assigned to one iTunes. I am not aware of an easy work-around. This is part of the DRM which is designed to prevent people from stealing music. Apple had no choice but to agree to integrate that into their software otherwise they would not get any music companies to let them sell their music on iTunes.

Have them copy their songs on a cd and download them on your ipod

Enable "Manually manager music and video". You will able to download song from your friend without deleting.
