I installed this on my new 64 bit computer. It worked great for about 2 months, and then one day, it just stopped downloading files, including windows update, or gives a digital signature invalid message. If it does download a file, when you try to open it, it says "File Corrupt". I am 100% positive it is not a virus, because after it did it, and I couldn't figure it out, I did a total wipe of the hard drive, formatted, and reinstalled. And it is still doing it. Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have any suggestions? Microsoft update and I went through all kinds of crap, and they couldn't figure it out either.

It's weird. I can download music just fine. It is mainly programs, and updates that will not work. They work fine, if I download them through win98 and then open them with XP x64 (dual boot).

Like if I try to download Adobe Reader, or a new version of Flash, etc.., it will either say "Digital signature invalid", or it will download it, and say "File Corrupt", when you try to open the file, whether you downloaded it to the computer, or open it from the source.

Are you trying to download rights-protected material, such as songs or recorded books? I have major problems getting the rights to playback recorded books, although everyone in the chain says that it's working fine. I tried for weeks to get it straightened out but eventually gave up.

If you are not asking about downloading rights-protected material, please clarify what you're trying to do and I will try to help.

Edit:

Thanks for the additional info. I afraid that I don't have anything to add except that it really does sound like some sort of spyware issue. You might try doing a Google search on "Windows x64 "file corrupt" " and see what that turns up. Otherwise, my only other suggestion is to post your question on a Windows XP x64 specific forum.

One final thought: Upgrade to Vista. I had some serious networking problems with one of my computers that ran Win 98SE. I switched to XP and it completely fixed the problem. Vista will probably do the same for you, even if it is annoying that you had to upgrade.

in my opinion genuine now window 7 most of the time older video games heavily isn't waiting to be play. Which one is better count number what on your going to do with it. Window XP is unquestionably quicker with tweaks and all that. Window 7 has a similar engine as window vista and function just about comparable to window vista no longer lots distinctive. i'm going to %. window XP over window 7 for now till they regulate the final product to be better.

It may not be your windows xp it could be your antivirus program or what explorer blocking certian types of files. you need to explore more options I experienced something simular with outlook express it blocked certian files like wmv sort video's I had to find the setting and change it and now I get them. It could be a firewall causing the problems not allowing permission, You need someone who can put hands on to figure it out. Explorer has a Digital signature checking program. If security is set to high it will block things, If set to low it is to easy to get viruses
