My husband and I purchased a Costa Rican carved gourd on our honeymoon. We would like to put some plants in it but it doesn't have any holes for water to drain. It was traditionally used to carry water. Can we use it for plants? Are there plants better suited for a container that the water would not drain it?

You don't have to have holes, but you do need to be very careful not to over-water. if the pot gets water-logged your roots will rot and your plant will drown

Make a pot wall.hang a pot with holes, then hang one below it to get the water from the one above, then keep going till you put a pot on the ground.then OVERwater the top one and nothing else. the water well dran into the next one, then the next on,and so one. so you can water all your plant in less time.

New Guinea impatiens would probably be a good choice for a pot like that. It's best if it has holes, just don't over water or you'll drown the roots.
