For the most part i'm republican. My only liberal thought is that gays should be allowed to marry.
I think the only differences between republicans and democrats are perception and how each moral varies in how important it is.
1) Abortion
~Most democrats will tell you that the important one here is the woman who may not be prepared for a child (to keep or just carry for the 9 months). And that it's not up to the gov't
~Most republicans perceive the innocent child that doesn't get a chance to live the important one. And we most definitely think its a gov't issue bc your killing your child (yes i know i sound bias but i already told you im a republican)
2)Welfare
~Dems perceive it as a way to help people that can't help themselves or just can't make it by. In this case charity is more important
~Reps perceive that if a person is more then 'well off' its because they or someone in their family worked for it and they shouldn't have to give it away to people who haven't worked for it...

Republicans believe charity is a private matter and it is much better to teach a man how to fish himself then make a life long dependant that needs you to fish for him.
3) Gay marriage
~Dems (and me) will tell you its a civil right and they love each other just as much as a man and a woman can. Civil rights are more important to them
~Reps perceive marriage as a bond only between a man and a woman, adam and eve, not adam and steve. And some will tell you its the same type of mental disorder that a pedophile has bc its just as sick. Tradition is more important to them.
4) Heath Care
~Dems perceive that the gov’t should serve the people by providing insurance for everyone bc of the crazy prices that hospitals and drug companies charge. To them they don’t care if taxes are raised for this kind of socialist service

~Reps believe that you should pay your own bills but something should be done about allowing drug companies to charge $400 for a prescription that only cost them $10 to make or a doctor that charges $200 for a five minute visit that cost him $1.50 worth of time. To them they want to keep the potential tax money but still not be swindled by over charging jerks for a necessary service.
5) Common man… time after time I see ‘liberals are for the common man’ and two seconds later I see ‘republicans are for the common man’. I see it like this…
~Dems always feel the need to find someone to help. So in their front view are all the poor people that need welfare that we should keep on dishing out. Its what they are looking for so that’s what they see more, which makes them the ‘common folk’. In their rear view are anyone who makes over $30,000 a year.
~Reps believe that the common man is the one who gets 50,000 or more a year and like to reward those people for their hard work.

...Their perception is that welfare rewards the failure of generation after generation of welfare junkies that don’t even try to keep a job. And I will admit that we sometimes do have the ‘let them eat cake’ mentality of if you don‘t like your life, go to night school so you can get a better job.
If you have anything to add please be as unbiased as possible but I would be happy to hear anymore that comes to people’s minds.

Ri: thats why i said 'most' for the abortion part and as for welfare i believe that we are both correct and i would also like to add that we wouldn't mind it so much if it was more regulated and abusers would be met with consequences.

For Anarchy99:
If you would have payed attention to the whole thing you would realize that we don't mind if people on welfare actually need money from a charity, but they should be from private charities, not mandatory ones. Forcing people to have the morality to give to charity is the same as a pro-lifer trying to push the morality that woman shouldn't kill their children no matter the reason or a straight person questioning the morality of a same sex couple. Disability is a hell of alot different then the generation after generation of welfare families that just care about that welfare money instead of getting a real job... and keeping it!

You've made some terrific observations. There is not a whole lot I can add. But I will say that those who say that morality cannot be legislated are ignorant of the law in general. The laws prohibiting murder, rape, theft, and the like are all morality-based legislation.
Dems and Reps both have their own standards of morality. But really party names are just political parties that house ideologies. And this is where the real differences come into play.
Conservatives see morality as set in stone. Certain things are wrong, and certain things are right.
Liberals tend to see morality as up to the individual. The problem with this interpretation of morality is that many do not see certain negative and truly malevolent practices as immoral, and if enough people come to that line of thinking, real problems can occur.
This is not to say that all liberals are immoral. But the liberal ideology has the real ability to degrade society into a true anarchical state. This is where true concern comes into play.
But like I said, I'm simply offering a humble analysis. Your observations are terrific, and I hesitate to add more! Good question

I think you make a good point. Both sides like to claim the moral high ground, and try to deny the morality of the other.
I believe that most Republicans AND most Democrats are usually motivated by some kind of morality. The conflict starts when one side or the other wants to FORCE a particular aspect of their morality on the other.
Most Republicans have nothing against charity, though they may not like being forced to support the needy through Federal anti-poverty programs which they have little control over. Most Democrats are friendly towards (or at least tolerant of) religion, but they don't being forced to support religious groups through Federal faith-based initiatives.
As a libertarian, I think ALL sides could get along better if they could leave morality largely outside of the political sphere. There are certain aspects of "morality" (namely, the protection of rights) that must be politically enforced. Fortunately, however, true individual rights are supported by nearly everyone in this country.
The more controversial moral programs should be done on a voluntary basis. Let the churches preach abstinence, but not using tax dollars. Let people donate to the poor, but from their own pockets, not the pockets of unwilling taxpayers. That way, everyone can live according to their own moral codes, while still respecting the core rights of all individuals.

I am going to have to disagree with you on several points
Abortion- Most democrats feel it is a question between a woman, her doctor and her minister, that the government has no place in it ( so much for the idea of repubs thinking less govt control is better)
Welfare-
Most people at some time in their life will be down on their luck. If the govt is their to help them back up, the sooner the will again become productive citizens. Also there are others that are disabled and will always need assistance. Assistance needs to be there for both reasons!
Repubs appear to think that if you keep kicking a man when he is down that it will make him rise ( this only happens if you kill him)
And for those that are permenently disabled, repubs take the idea of dump them on the street, they are non productive (and most conservatives claim to be religious)
This is where the morality questions begin
Repubs claim to be moral, but their actions dont show it, Democrats dont claim the moral high ground but realize that if my brother falls and I dont pick him up, who will pick me up when I fall!
And as for the gay marriage issue
Repubs dont like to admit it but even in nature about 10-15% of all animals are gay, it is natural
Whether you agree to gay marriaage or not, civil unions at least should be allowed-

I would like to differ with you on some of your assumptions. Not all democrats support abortion. The primary reason they do support the right to chose, is because of: risk to life, rape, or incest.
As far as welfare, it is not so much that the Republicans are against welfare, but they believe that it should be an issue at the state level, not the federal level.
And you are right, there is a lot of bashing of morals...I don't think any politicians have any morals.
