All fish can benefit from aquarium salt because it helps there gill functions you want to follow the directions on the box though. as for tank size if you had two of the same sex you could get away with a ten gallon but being you have both sexes and you are wanting babies you need at least a 20 gallon so you have room for your babies to grow. eventually you will need to start selling or giving your babies away or get a bigger tank. Once they breed you have about 45 days til babies. It is quiet normal for them to be exploring there new tank they also may be stressed so that is another reason for the aquarium salt It is not the same type salt that you use in a salt water tank it is for fresh water tanks.

Well, to keep my answer short, i have simply left you some websites to refer to here. i don't know much about breeding fish, but one thing i do know for sure is there really is no such thing as a completely freshwater fish. Almost all fish benifit from some salt. About one tablespoon per five gallons of water. Here a a few websites i looked up for you, about breeding guppies, and the whole salt thing that I mentioned. (all my fish have some salt, even my betta in his little 2.5 gallon tank on my office desk with his neon tetra tank buddies - they have about a teaspoon in there)
The website i have says to put salt in only at setup and water changes, but I added mine (at the direction of my fish friend at PetSmart) after i had had my fish for several months. Just be sure to replace what you take out during water changes.
Hope i could help!

Guppies can easily go full saltwater, folks. They're happy with at least a bit of salt in the water. I'm not sure offhand how much to start with, don't just throw 'em in full saltwater, it needs to be gradual... just know we'd keep some in marine water to feed a lionfish and they were as happy and colorful as could be!

No they don't need any aquarium salt. They will breed when they are settled into the tank and the food and water requirements are met.

Guppies are generally freshwater fish... you can put them in saltwater... but I've always seen them in freshwater tanks.
