Language learning seems to begin after birth, but talking to your baby while still in the womb is a good idea. Baby becomes familiar with your voices. If you use both languages regularly at home, your baby should pick up both languages. Whichever language is used the most will be the stronger language, though.

We have friends with a tri-lingual family. American guy stationed in Germany met Hispanic wife studying in Germany. They married and had kids. Husband and wife communicate with eachother in their second language, German. But they communicate one on one with the kids in their native languages (English/Spanish). The kids have picked up German, English, and Spanish fluently. It gets interesting during any heated discussion - the parents resort to their 1st languages and rely on the kids to interpret!

Your baby can learn any language that you teach him before the age of 4 or before the end of the lateralization period of the brain. Avoid talking motherese or babbling to your baby as this does not help in speech development.

yes, your baby will learn both languages if exposed to both on a regular basis. s/he will be able to differentiate between languages also. this is the optimal time for the baby to acquire language (when baby is out of womb of course). as the child becomes older, language will become increasingly more difficult to learn.

They can learn two languages. As long as you talk to them in those languages. If you point out star in English you can also follow it up with etoile in French. Kids are very smart. Smarter then we know.

Congratulations on ur marriage and best wishes to you and yours!!

Absolutely --- bi-lingual famlies are not uncommon here in Canada. Most babies who have french and english speaking parents grow up speaking french and english. It's never to early to start to teach your newborn language skills either, talk to him often, read him books, sing to him.

When the child is born, if he is spoken to in different languages by different people, he will learn both languages to his benefit. Children who learn more than one language from birth have a more developed brain than other children.
