Bush named Alberto Gonzales the first Hispanic attorney general. He made an Arab-American, Spencer Abraham, secretary of energy; a Cuban-American, Carlos Gutierrez, secretary of commerce; an Asian-American, Elaine Chao, secretary of labor; and a mentally challenged-American, Norman Mineta, secretary of transportation.
Not to mention Powell/Condi the first male/female African American Secertary of State. But no one made a big deal out of that

I think it's a great thing that we have a female speaker, and I'm a Conservative Republican. I'm all for leaps and bounds. If a woman can do the job, then why not? Gender need not matter. I'm not so sure I want it to be Pelosi though. She doesn't impress me, atleast not yet. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

The fact that she is the First woman in the history of the
United States to be Speaker of the House will be in history
forever. It's a very big deal that it is happening in our time.

Like I said before, I do not want her to be any female's role model nor any grandmother and God help the child who has her face at their bedside nighty-night.

All the poor, oppressed, hungry, disenfranchised, homeless people she keeps talking about must be impressed with her shin digs...If it were republicans throwing these parties she would bemoan the fact that that money could have gone to the poor.
