I have been on nuvaring for about 3 months... Why is the cycle so short compared to other BC pills ? Nuvaring is only in for 21 days?

Also, after keeping it in for 3 weeks (21 days) do you keep it out for the full 7 days or just till your period stops? thanks!

Nuva Ring is like an OC (oral contraceptive) - it's 21 days of estrogen/progestin and 7 days of placebo ("sugar pills"). So once you take out the ring, your period should start. Then after 7 days have passed (and you've had your period), you're supposed to insert a new Nuva Ring so the whole cycle can start over.

It is 28 days if you count the "off" week (when you have your period). This works the same way as the pill. The last week of pills are placebos and contain no hormones. Put in the new Nuvaring after seven days, just like you would start taking a new pack of pills after the placebos are gone.

the nuva ring keeps your period away by tricking your body into thinking that it's pregnant. by placing the chemical directly on your skin it is a direct effect. your period comes after the medicine has worn off. you want to keep the ring out for the whole week so that your body has time to relaz and recover from the previous 3 weeks. follow the directs unless you feel it is not working, then calla doctor for more help.
