As a gun owner and concealed weapon permit carrier, I can tell you it is NOT guns. The simple equation is: drugs + drug addict = crime.

If this is the case, it could be because of a general lack of social cohesion that has developed in most places over time that have produced more formal social codes. Here, we are mostly bunches of laid back individuals that came here and charted our own courses and did things our own ways. Because of this lack of social cohesion and social codes, more people than in other places feel that they can abandon the weakly held standards of society. Does that make sense? It's just a spur-of-the-moment theory.

Police get too overzealous with who they arrest and the justice system is extremely flawed. Yes, there are screwy things going on here in the land of the free...
It's reallly bad in the city I live in. Then again, the police here are dirty. I never go outside alone after dark if I can help it. Police see a woman walking along and assume she's a hooker. Guess who's word the judge always takes?

its not a very simple answer -- there are quite a few factors to take into consideration and it all can't be summed up nor should it be summed up in a brief sentence
some has to do with who is in the politcal office at the time
some has to do with the color of the persons skin and the crimes that they committed
some has to do with dedicated police officers who uphold the law to the letter and dont turn their backs

Except for 3 other countries, we have a large population to begin with.
We enforce our laws.
Media's message of "You need more things now." leads to those who can't afford them to do drastic things to get them.
Stress of always having to reach higher goals sometimes makes people snap and do things in violation of law, all the way up to murder.

China, North Korea and Iran kill human beings accused of crimes a lot extra effectively than we do. they don't look to be very nearly as vulnerable to furnish prisoners existence sentences the way u.s. does. In China, all of us is sentenced to lack of life for drug dealing or perhaps TAX EVASION. I ascertain that if u.s. performed our murderers, drug sellers and tax evaders our penitentiary inhabitants might want to plummet. Russia has a inhabitants of 141 million. u.s. has a inhabitants of 312 million - so it stands to reason we'd want to have a proportionally larger sort of criminals. ultimately, u.s. supplies human beings the liberty to be as stupid as they elect to be. we are able to elect to commit crimes - and our criminal justice device supplies us the room we favor to hang ourselves.

well i watch this documentary called bowling for Columbine it was so sad and it said the a majority of people are put in jail people to shooting of other people and killing using guns. they don't have strict laws about guns. you Can buy them from the bank when you open and account and you Can get bullets from walmart.
well i think that has to contribute to the amount of people in jail
:)
