It's called seasonal affect disorder. It means that you get depressed during the winter or around holidays or certain times of the year. I suggest getting a hobbie like doing a puzzle, rent some funny movies like disney movies, read a book, do a crosswork, get some games for your computer, or go see your doctor about this depression. I meditate and soak in hot baths, that makes me feel better.

Yes it's common, I do. Lack of daylight, fresh air, sun and outdoor activities can lead to this. Lack of activity and being indoors too much creates a sluggish feeling.
The best solution I found is to get out in the daylight for at least 30 mins a day, go for a walk or cycle, anything like that. I found that just that makes me feel better in the winter. Also going to the gym or working out really helps and gets rid of the lethargy. Excersise also potentially increases positive chemicals in the brain which make you feel good.
Diet has an effect too. I found eating salads and eating really healthily helps. Raw veg and a variety of fruit. Getting that burst of vitamins is important. Fish is good to for the B vitamins and helps I found.
All of this certainly helps a lot although nothing can beat the summer..

When December 21st rolls around, I make a mental note that it's the shortest day of the year. Therefore, any day after that is getting longer! It's staying lighter longer. I don't care if it's only for a second... it's still staying lighter longer!!! And that being said, spring is only a little under 3 months away.
