Swampfox with Leslie Neilson was great. It was a Disney thing, much like Davey Crockett with Fess Parker and Zorro with Guy Williams. Disney used to play these on the Disney Channel at midnight on what they called Vault Disney. However, a few years back, they closed the vault permanently. But good news is you can buy them on DVD now. Look for Swamp Fox here:

I remember the show, and the song, very well. It ran on ABC from '59 - '61. Leslie Nielsen, believe it or not, starred as Colonel Francis Marion, something of a renegade American patriot, using rather guerrilla-style tactics, as I recall, against the British during the Revolutionary War. The show was a Disney production but Francis Marion was a real person. "Swamp Fox" became his nickname because he was impossible to catch.

I think you mean swamp fox.... Just looking at the line from the song, maybe it means racoon? I don't know.
