Free Willy is, in fact, a dolphin. More specifically, he is an Orca Whale or a Killer Whale. Orcas are one of thirty-five species of dolphins. It is actually the largest species in the dophin family. Many people think of dolphins as the smaller, friendlier animals, but Orcas are also friendly, as apparent in Free Willy and at places like Sea World (although these would be captive animals). They are predators, thus the name "killer whale" but they are not known to attack humans. They eat large fish and can sometimes go after smaller whales. Yes it is. Killer whales are in fact very large Dolphins. Go to any Sea World and it will be right there in the commentary of Shamu's Show!
