I ask them why they dress that way and they always say because their non-conformists or individuals. Hello! Ever notice all the other non-conformists are dressed just like you. Can there be a non-conformist uniform? I have 200 shekels (40 dollars) in my pocket waiting for the first guy I see in a tutu whering a clown shoe as a hat, because he's a real non-conformist.

(Next part is only for Middle East officianados) And why is only the Israeli kids? What about them makes them want to dress like a B-movie sometimes, and what about the Arab man, other than his superior johnson, makes him resistant to the urge to put on platform shoes and mascera?

Anyone know?

If you'll notice, most of these kids are just that: kids. When an adolescent goes through puberty, their psychology changes as well. The struggle every teenager feels is their desire to conform with their friends, while at the same time being unique. Punk, goth, and emo are just manifestations of this desire. When their generation gets old, they will have kids whose fashions they disapprove of.

Muslims tend to have stricter beliefs. Did you not engage in any activities that were frowned upon by your parents? It is a way to belong and annoy ones parents at the same time which can lead to a more open mind. Have a great day.

Kids just want to fit in...Back in the day.
there were flappers, beat-nicks, hippies,
and rockers....each generation has its thing.
The kids today just like to think they are different.
They do what they can...funny though, it's expected.
Being a teenager is your last chance to do something
that feels free.............when it's over, all you have are
your memories.....let's hope they are good ones.

Good point. I'm glad my kids are individuals, originals, ones of a kind. Something must have gotten through to them.

Yeah, they are being kind of stupid.

They want to rebel, but they don't really have anything to rebel against. The mass marketing types latch on to this and sell them their "rebellious" stuff. They feel like they're being different and shocking; they ignore the fact that nobody cares.
