How does Mulan break “the rules” and follow them at the same time? (mulan as in the Disney cartoon, mulan)

she follows them because she's going to war and one member of each family is called to war.

she breaks them because only males are allowed in the military.

She breaks the rules by being in the army or whatever and running away.. but she also follows the rules while shes in training

Well its diiferent, from following orders, meaning what the captian is telling her for example and breaking the rules is like she is a women not a man. and men are suppose to fight for the war and stuff. ^_^

she goes to the war to save her father from dieing in the war
it is against females to fight but she still does it
