My daughter is 2 months old and she snacks instead of really eating. She will drink 1-2 oz every hour or two. How do i get her to eat more and less frequently?

she needs a schedule. it sounds like she is using the bottle as a pacifier. I have worked at a daycare in the infant room for 2 years. Most of the infants in my care can work into a schedule of 4 ounces every 2-3 hours. you just have to be patient and hold her off until her scheduled feeding time. she may need a nap to help her through.

You just do it. Resolve that you are not going to feed her less than every 2 1/2 hours to start with, even if she cries. Then increase the amount by half-hours weekly until she is up to a normal four hour schedule. she will eat more at a sitting as her body adjusts to going longer times between feedings. Remember, a baby does NOT need to eat every time it cries. There are a million other reasons why a baby cries.

Concerning the quantity taken in, remember that the average content size of a healthy stomach [inner pouch, not outer sack, if you will] will be about the size of a closed fist. So, if the couple of ounces fills the stomach, then that would be the norm. Also, if you set other schedules for your child, so he/she will see the rhythm to the day, your child will also follow through with feeding schedules. The less active, the less intake is a general rule for infants and toddlers. refer to the source below for much more information, should answer everything for you.

It may be a little frustrating, but it's what she'll do. At two months you should feed her when ever she's hungry. She won't eat if she is full. Every baby's eating patterns are different.

wait a little while before giving her the bottle you may have to listen to her cry until she gets on a new schedule but when she does it will make her hungerier and she will eat more and after she eats she will stay fuller longer. Try a passy to sooth her until the time for her to eat. good luck

well, talk to the doc, maybe that is not so bad after all. otherwise dont let her have more milk till the time and then offer her more, she will be hungrier then, after a while it may work , her stomach will have to get used to larger amounts so tred carefully, you got a delicate baby there :)

Schedule her feeding and don't give her anything between them. You may try to withhold till you know she is very hungry...then space feedings accordingly.

SHE'S 2 MONTHS OLD - HER STOMACH CAN ONLY HOLD SO MUCH - OR
MAYBE SHE'S FALLING ASLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF FEEDING THEN YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAKE HER
