My truck is stuck in overdrive and it wont let me switch back. The light stays on. I can feel it shifting gears (automatic). What could be the problem?

Your transmission is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module. If you no longer have control of the overdrive, there is most likely an issue with one or more of the electronic controls in the transmission.
A very good place to start is to retrieve the Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the PCM. Your little trucklet is OBD II compliant, so you should be able to get them checked at a REPUTABLE transmission shop for a modest fee (if any), or if money is an issue, ask the nice folks at the discount auto parts to retrieve them for you. With the descriptions in hand, you now have a starting place.

Good Luck

sounds like a bad switch or fuse keeping you locked into OD. it shifts normally right?, you just want to be able to take it out of OD? do you haul much or have very steep hills in your area? Its probably fine to leave it in OD.
