my interpretation of this (as a psychology undegraduate) -

Psychosocial factors - these are social reasons for people's behaviors. So..... people who are aggressive in hospital are usually aangry because of something that is happening in their SOCIAL life. This is in turn affecting their psyche.

(example)

If you understand that a women who comes into hospital with a black eye and gets angry and lashes out at the nurse or 'health worker' because she is worried that if you find out you will call the police and she will be beaten by her husband again.... you can deal with this situation in a more sensitive matter... ask more subtle questions...

there are many more factors such as ill education, drugs, alcohol dependance, or on the other hand you could have racial factors.... a muslim may get aggressive if an insensitive nurse asked them to remove their clothes, but an understanding of their social background can change this.

Psychosocial factors are generally behaviours that are not associated solely to physical or psychological disorders. There are elements of social conditions that play a part in the condition.

So..someone might suffer from an anxiety state that is exacerbated by their living conditions.

In terms of client or patient care, it can help if workers have an understanding of where the originating cause of a specific behaviour may lay in that in sharing with the patient that understanding...the worst manifestation of the symptom may be avoided.
