Has anyone ever experienced head pain. The last two nights I was up and couldn't sleep, and it felt like my head was hurting and I felt it wanted to explode. I had to put a cold pack on my pillow before going to bed to cool down the discomfort.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Head pain can be many different things. Is your pain throbbing and/or constant? Specifically, where is the pain? Do you have a history of migraines? Do you have high blood pressure? Have you been under significant stress recently? If you have a headache that is the worst pain you've ever had, medical attention should be obtained immediately. You might want to see your doctor who may recommend further diagnostic tests.

Seems like you may have a overwhelming amount of stress on your shoulders. Take some time each day to relax as much as possible.

Advil is known to work well. If the pain becomes unbearable go to your local store to buy a pescribtion to relieve your head pains. and Get Plenty of sleep (Are you getting 8 hours? Make sure of it and sleep more then that if needed.)

If the pain has come from nowhere and is worse when you try to lie down, it could well be a sinus infection or possibly a deep seated dental abscess. In either case the treatment would be antibiotics and/or a decongestant like sudafed. The cool pack helping does sound like an infection. If this persists, definitely see your GP
