I just visited there for the first time and was super impressed with the country overall. I had an amazing visit, and met lots of nice people........I am curious about their social and economic problems, as I didn't see ANY!

Compared to the USA the crime rate in Germany is pretty low, especially concerning the "abuse" of weapons (because ordinary people are not allowed to buy and possess guns). Social and economic problems might be less obvious and maybe less severe than in the US, but they're existing. One of the biggest problem is the high unemployment rate - especially in the eastern "states" (=Bundesländer). So it also depends very much on the places you visit how obvious the problems are - and how much you're really involved in daily life (not as a tourist! because they usually look for the nice places).
