well i think one of the biggest problems is that the rich come and look at what they call the poor and or the primitive and say right now lets start from scratch. we need a layer of concrete here and we need a hole dug over there.
you see the problem isn't so much that they are poor its that this crazy man keeps coming around ignoring what ingenious things they have done to survive. things like the use of bamboo.
we see it and say that's not good burn it . put up proper metal scaffolding well the fact is that bamboo makes a great light but Strong support for the scaffolding.
while we need to help the poor we need to understand that being poor results in knowledge and discoveries too.
being rich having lots of papers with numbers on them and faces of people with funny hats does not mean that they have
some sort of exculisize ability to learn.
what is needed to help the poor is first the desire and then the understanding that the people dont have television but they do have vision. they can see they know whats in need they have had years to invision what simple little things could be done to improve there standard of living.
recently a man started this micro lending system . he and others would lend money to people in poorer places say 500 dollars and that person would use that to go get the things he has sat there thinking if only . for years. well with this system some of the if only gets to become and now it is.
one brick at a time one person at a time we help each other
only god can see us as a garden and still understand each plant
we can at best learn to understand one more person and as such we can only place one brick at a time . that is what is needed

Our biggest problems in the developed world are assuming that our technology will save us from everything, and that we can simply move further away from the poor parts of our own cities and be "safe."

The biggest problems with every poor person I've ever seen are laziness, the expectation that someone is just going to give them whatever they need and/or want, and this bizarre fear of reaching for more than they currently have.

Why do we send money to poor countries? We don't make them richer by filling their bellies today. We can prop them up and keep them alive, and make them our pets, but that's just a liability on us. Education, entrepreneurial education, financial education, those things will allow those who still have the spirit to fight, to begin to build what they want. Some folks get jobs, some folks own jobs, some folks build businesses that have tons of jobs.

The prosperity of a nation can be measured by how strongly it fights the natural laziness and indifference we all have. In poor neighborhoods, I see people standing around, looking as though they're waiting for the jobby man to come by and give them gainful employment. That gets more and more rare as one moves up the socio-economic ladder.

In nations where the people have no great knowledge of or interest in technology, well, they may not have any problems. Other than disease. And high infant mortality. And short lifespans. And always being at the mercy of more advanced states. But those who want to explore and join more advanced (technological) societies will do so.

Maybe all problems really do come down to how far an individual is willing to go to get what they want.

Biggest problem is politics. If we were really able to send poor countries the exact amount of funds that have been donated then they would be able to make homes and produce foods that we have here. Figure 1,000,000can buy here: A really nice home, food for a year, clothes, furniture, schooling and a car. Now figure a million for 10 families in a poor country that has no cars and have no use for furniture, expensive clothes or our regular housing features. Well thats more than 1ooox as much money that has been donated to those countries and the catch they only get 50,000 out of 1,000,000. The question is what is politics really doing for any country?
